Ruth was born in Surabaya, Java Island, Indonesia.
She has moved to Melbourne, Australia in 2017 to persue her study in RMIT Univeristy Australia.
Ruth is now a student studying Bachelor of Fashion Design (Honours).
 
Cultural heritage and pattern making have been two of Ruth’s key design elements in creating
her collections. In 2019, Ruth created final collection for her Bachelor’s Degree of Fashion Design
final semester called Metamorphosis. In this collection, Ruth is using batik from her hometown
to be contrast fabrication in her collection. Pattern making is her key design element with draping
with paper on mannequin in the process of making.

In 2021, the collection Folklore for Ruth’s final semester in Fashion Desing (Honours), she also
adapt batik fabrication. However, this time Ruth is creating her own batik textile using the traditional technqiue and natural dyes. In this fashion proposition, she is using modern technology, laser cutting in creating the pattern of the batik. The laser cut acrylic replaces the use of canting. 

In the future, she would like to be a fasahion designer with her own brand making impact to cultivate
her cultural heritage and keep developing her pattern making technique to increase the appreciation of Indonesian local designers and artists.
